WhistleblowersUK partners with GLA Conservatives Assembly Members following London ULEZ whistleblowing

The GLA Conservatives Assembly Members have announced a partnership with WhistleblowersUK following whistleblower reports that responses to the consultation on the proposal to expand the Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) were improperly excluded.

Peter Fortune AM, deputy leader of the GLA Conservatives, welcomed the partnership, which he said would provide “vital support” to anyone raising concerns about unethical behaviour in the Greater London Authority, the Met Police, Transport for London and elsewhere.

The partnership will increase the support available to whistleblowers who get in touch with Conservative Assembly Members. All prospective whistleblowers will be referred to WhistleblowersUK for practical advice on how to protect themselves and to receive legal support.

It comes as additional TfL whistleblowers come forward to raise concerns about the handling of Sadiq Khan’s ULEZ consultation, since the Telegraph’s investigation in October revealed some responses may have been improperly excluded. Their evidence has uncovered serious concerns about whether the consultation is legally compliant.

Peter Fortune AM, deputy leader of the GLA Conservatives, said: “WhistleblowersUK provides vital support to those who expose wrongdoing, often at the risk of their own livelihoods. We are delighted to be partnering with them and supporting their campaign to increase protections for whistleblowers.

“The Telegraph’s investigation into Sadiq Khan’s ULEZ expansion has raised serious questions about whether the consultation responses have been improperly excluded, and multiple whistleblowers have come forward to our group sharing their ethical concerns and providing critical information for our investigation.

“This partnership will help us to give whistleblowers the support they need and encourage even more to come forward.”

Georgina Halford-Hall, CEO of WhistleblowersUK, said "WhistleblowersUK is delighted to be invited to partner with GLA Conservatives and for their support for the campaign for the introduction of an Office of the Whistleblower. We provide a safe and confidential platform for whistleblowers, including those who are considering speaking up about the ULEZ expansion, to come forward to discuss their concerns and the best way to make reports."
