What We Do
We can help with
WhistleblowersUK has three strands to its work.
Support: The most important thing we do is support whistle-blowers when they come forward to raise issues and concerns that are happening or have happened in their workplace. We offer a free, confidential helpline to support whistle-blowers in making the decision to make a disclosure. Most of our caseworkers have direct experience of blowing the whistle and understand the support and guidance that is needed.
Campaigning: We campaign for fair treatment of whistleblowers. We work with Government Ministers and provide evidence to assist with their examination of the effectiveness of the current law and policy. We want to ensure that people who are brave enough to make disclosures in the public interest are not penalised or subjected to detriment by their employer or others, including regulators and professional bodies.
Training: (Our training programme is in development.) We train people in the application of policy and legislation in relation to whistleblowing. We help organisations to learn from our experience in supporting whistleblowers to ensure that if concerns are raised, people are listened to, action is taken to address the issue and the whistleblower is not treated badly. We assist organisations with creating and auditing whistleblowing policies and procedures in order that they conform to the requirements of the law and the needs of the workforce.
"WhistleblowersUK has helped me on how to prepare evidence, initiate a subject data access request, write a complaint, and take action to redress wrongdoing. Their support has been invaluable."
